Posted by: Bishop Anthony D. Jones on Fri, Feb 26, 2010

lecture notes from 2/25/10

Luke 14:26-33

  1. Hate Father and Mother – (vs 26) – put Christ 1st – love family less than you love Christ
  2. Hate Own Life – (vs 26b) - put Christ 1st – love self less than you love Christ
  3. Bear Your Cross – (vs 27) – lay down your life – 1st for Christ, 2ndly for people, 3rdly for all assignments
  4. Come After Me – (vs 27b) – follow and imitate Jesus Christ without hesitation – imitate his nature, character, and authority
  5. Counting the Cost – (vs 28) - look at the sacrifice required, look at the price you must pay to walk with and on behalf of Christ
  6. Forsaking All You Have – (vs 33) – take leave – say farewell – denounce
  7. Continue in His Word – (John8:31) – endure, abide in Him, don’t look back, be established in His word – be rooted in His word – in Him
  8. That Ye Love One Another – (John 13:35) – love other believers the way Christ loves us – love others on behalf of Christ so it would be as if Christ Himself were loving them
  9. Bear Much Fruit – (John 15:8) – can be plucked – Godly fruit will remain, things and ways of God can be plucked from your life – fruit of Spirit – tree planted by the rivers of water bringeth forth it’s fruit in it’s season

Good Morning prescious students and gifts of God.  I pray you all are well.  I know it may take a while to get some of the text books and begin reading. You can check the amazon store for a kindle version.  As a first assignment I would like for you use the notes for the 9 requirements for becoming and remaining a disciple.  Write a paper that answers the tenants for all readings.  Summarize what the 9 requirements are, summarize how they can be applied to your own life and summarize how you could use them in your ministry assignment.  This first paper should be about 3 to 5 pages.

You may email the papers to myself or His Grace Bishop Quintin Williford.

You must first create an account to post.
